Roofing emergencies don't keep business hours — and in Ontario, they almost always happen during the worst weather. The faster you secure the opening, the less water gets in and the smaller your final repair bill. Our emergency crews are on call across the Durham Region.
What Counts as a Roofing Emergency?
If water is entering your home, your roof structure is exposed, or you have an immediate safety hazard, treat it as an emergency and call us. Common emergency calls we respond to in Oshawa:
- Active leaks dripping through ceilings, light fixtures, or walls.
- Wind-storm damage: large sections of shingles blown off, exposing the deck.
- Tree or branch impact on the roof, skylights, or gutters.
- Hail damage — punched-through shingles or cracked skylights.
- Ice dam blowouts forcing water under shingles and into the attic.
- Fire damage — roof compromised by fire-fighting or fire itself.
- Flashing failures during heavy rain causing sudden interior water.
- Animal damage — raccoons or squirrels chewing through roof vents and shingles.
Water coming in right now?
Don't wait until morning. Every hour of exposure increases the repair cost.
Request Emergency ResponseWhat to Do While You Wait for Our Crew
1. Stay Safe First
If water is near electrical outlets, light fixtures, or your electrical panel, turn off the breaker for that area and don't touch wet wiring. Move family and pets away from the affected ceiling — a sagging, water-loaded ceiling can collapse without warning.
2. Contain the Water
Place buckets, garbage bins, or storage totes under drips. Lay towels or plastic sheeting to protect flooring and belongings. If a ceiling is bulging, you can carefully poke a small hole to release trapped water into a bucket — this often prevents a full ceiling collapse.
3. Document the Damage
Take photos and video of the roof (from a safe vantage point), the interior damage, and any belongings affected. Your insurer will need this — and so will we.
4. Call Oshawa Roofing
The sooner you call, the sooner we can dispatch a crew to tarp and secure the opening. Don't climb on the roof yourself, especially in storm conditions — leave that to us.
Our Emergency Response Process
1. Rapid Dispatch
When you call or submit the form, we triage the situation, give you immediate phone guidance to limit damage, and dispatch the closest available crew. Most Oshawa emergencies receive on-site response within hours — often faster in active storm events.
2. Temporary Stabilization
We tarp exposed areas, board up openings, and apply temporary seals to stop water intrusion immediately. The goal: no more water comes in tonight, full stop.
3. Full Damage Assessment
Once the immediate threat is contained, we inspect the roof, attic, and interior — photographing everything and providing an itemized scope of permanent repairs.
4. Permanent Repair & Insurance Help
We complete the permanent repair and provide all documentation your insurer needs, including photos, scope of work, and a contractor's estimate. We can also coordinate directly with your adjuster.
Why Choose Oshawa Roofing for Emergencies
- 24/7 availability across Oshawa and the Durham Region, including weekends and holidays.
- Fast dispatch — crews and tarps staged locally for storm events.
- Fully insured ($2M liability, WSIB compliant) — important when an insurer is paying the bill.
- Insurance-literate documentation — adjuster-ready reports from day one.
- One contractor, start to finish — we tarp it, document it, and repair it permanently. No handoffs.
- No emergency surcharges on the permanent repair — the tarps and stabilization may be billed, but we don't inflate the follow-up work.
Will Insurance Cover My Emergency Roof Repair?
In most cases, yes — sudden and accidental damage from storms, wind, hail, falling trees, and the resulting interior water damage is typically covered by Ontario homeowner's policies. Gradual wear and tear is not. We provide detailed, photo-documented scopes of work that align with insurer requirements and can bill the insurer directly in many cases.
